Halifax is fourth in Canada in the 2024 International Congress & Convention Association's (ICCA) Country and City Rankings. Released at IMEX Frankfurt 2025, ICCA's annual rankings measure the volume of international events at convention centres around the world, providing insight into the popularity and performance of event destinations.
This year, Halifax ranked fourth in Canada for the number of international conventions hosted (just behind Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver). This is a climb of four spots from eighth in 2023 -- more than doubling qualifying events.
"This incredible recognition reflects the momentum we're seeing in Halifax and the hard work of our amazing team at the Halifax Convention Centre, along with our partners like Discover Halifax, who champion our city on the global stage," said Events East's Executive Vice-President Suzanne Fougere. Recently, Discover Halifax confirmed 33 international events in Halifax for upcoming years, which will generate an estimated economic impact of $18M.
The ICCA ranking also underscores Halifax's rising profile as a world-class destination for international meetings. In 2024-25, the Halifax Convention Centre hosted 49 national and international events supported in part by a strategic international sales and marketing strategy, with upcoming international events booked into 2026 and beyond.
