Suzanne Fougere (she/her), ICD.D, is President and CEO of Events East Group. As an executive leader with over 25 years of experience delivering strategies, plans, and solutions that support organizational and community growth, Suzanne brings a diverse business background and is recognized for designing integrated programs that enhance business results.
She joined Events East in 2010 and has held increasingly senior roles in the organization, spanning all areas of the business with a focus on ensuring corporate and business development initiatives drive growth and impact.
In her previous position as Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Suzanne was responsible for overseeing the delivery of the business development strategy for both Scotiabank Centre and the Halifax Convention Centre, as well as full integration of marketing and sales activities, and the primary partnerships needed to grow the business and its reputation.
Most recently she led the strategic implementation of the organization’s first long-term strategy that resulted in more than $550 million in economic impact, exceeding all key performance targets. A recognized industry leader, she has led the successful bids and hosting of key signature events including the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, the 2024 JUNOS Awards, the 2025 Canadian Curling Trials, and the 2025 PWHL Takeover Tour. Earlier in her tenure, Suzanne played a lead role in the development and opening of the Halifax Convention Centre.
Suzanne is passionate about building a vibrant Halifax and Nova Scotia. She serves as the Chair of Board of Directors for the QEII Foundation, is on the Board for United Way Maritimes, and is a member of the YWCA’s Women’s Leadership Collaborative. In 2024, Suzanne won the Event Atlantic Excellence Award for Champion of the Year and received the Canadian Sport Tourism 2025 Industry Champion Award. She was also a recipient of the 2025 WXN Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Executive Leaders Category and one of 2026's 25 Most Powerful Women in Business.
A graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University, Suzanne completed the Directors Education Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors (Rotman School of Management) in 2023.
