Events East’s Executive Vice-President Suzanne Fougere has been named one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Business of 2026 by Atlantic Business Magazine.
The annual Top 25 Most Powerful Women Award celebrates innovators and changemakers across all four Atlantic provinces whose leadership impacts the region and beyond; these women are changemakers who influence their industry and the community.
As Executive Vice-President, Suzanne has guided Events East in its achievement of significant milestones.
Since 2018, Scotiabank Centre and the Halifax Convention Centre combined have hosted over 1,500 events, welcomed more than 3.2 million guests, and generated over $550 million in economic impact for the city and province, exceeding all business and financial performance targets. With her event attraction strategies, both venues have hosted major national and international events including the 2023 IIHF World Juniors, the 2024 JUNO Awards, OCEANS 2024, and the 2025 Canadian Curling Trials. Last year, she led the development of Event East’s new Five-Year Strategic Plan, which charts the course for the future of the organization. Suzanne was also appointed as the Chair of the QEII Foundation and sits on the Board of Directors for United Way Maritimes.
On April 1, Suzanne will begin her five-year term as the President and CEO of Events East Group.
“It is an honour to be recognized as one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Business in the Atlantic region, among so many incredible female leaders,” Suzanne shared. “The success of our region is a collaborative effort across sectors and industries, and I am excited to continue working with partners and communities to drive impact in our city and province.”
Over the last few years, Suzanne has been recognized nationally for her leadership and impact.
In 2025, she was named one of the CN Executive Leaders of the Year by WXN’s Top 100 Awards in Toronto and she was the first-ever recipient of the Sport Tourism Industry Champion Award at the 2025 Sport Tourism PRESTIGE Awards in Calgary.
